INDIA MOBILE CONGRESS 2018

 

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Government of India along with COAI (Cellular Operators Association of India) announced the second edition of India Mobile Congress (IMC), which was held from October 25 - 27, 2018 at Aerocity Grounds, New Delhi, “IMC 2018”. This was envisaged to be a massive global event with its theme “New Digital Horizons Connect, Create, Innovate”.

The participation of students in the event was organized by Mr. Gopal Mittal, Sr. Director – Commercial and Finance and co-ordinated by Prof. Neelam Sharma, Director MAIT. The three day event was co-ordinated by MAIT faculty members Mr.Nitin Sharma, Dr. Amita Goel and Mr. Ajay Garg.

 Around 400 students and forty faculty members of five department of MAIT visited the different start ups based on 5G technology and also attended the seminars in main hall. It aimed at building ideas, forging lasting Industry relationships, showcasing leading-edge mobile technology & product trends, manufacturing services, sectoral insights and impactful solutions so that our country should not get left behind in the 5G race, as it did at the other generations. The Telecom industry, encompassed the 5G, start-up ecosystem, Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Smart Cities, and allied industry sectors. Thought leaders from across the world presented their views, opinions and ideas on the current trends and the future outlook for the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Technology, Media, and Telecom (TMT) sectors.

The Conference included focused sessions on emerging fields in the Telecommunications sector and the ICT space. The ICT & TMT sectors are now increasingly market focused and actively seeking newer technologies and service developing options that start-ups are developing.

 India Mobile Congress 2018 aims to be the definitive platform to catalyze these interactions and drive the next wave of the technology revolution for India. One key initiative in this direction is Apprize, the IMC 1000 App Challenge. Through this online contest, the organizers intend to identify the top 1000 apps developed to address 20 problem statements across 5 themes.  The platform will see a greater International presence with over 10 Partner Countries, 190+ Global Speakers, 300+ Exhibitors, 1,000+ International Media & 1,00,000+ visitors. It provided overall exposure to 5G services and real issues which will determine if applied in India.
